Tornadoes recently ripped through northern Texas, destroying homes, cars, and everything in its path.
Many people who were caught in the strong rain and winds were lucky to survive, but were left with destroyed belongings.
One of those people were 16-year-old Riley Leon, who was on his way back home in Elgin after a job interview when the tornado struck.
As he was driving, 130-mph winds from the tornado flipped his red Silverado truck onto its side and spun it around before it amazingly landed right side up again.
A storm chaser caught the terrifying ordeal on video, which quickly went viral.
Leon suffered some small injuries that will require treatment and rehabilitation. Unfortunately his family is uninsured, so a GoFundMe was set up to help pay for Leon’s medical bills.
Leon will be OK, but his truck will not.
“I stepped out of my truck and that’s when it hit, that I lost something I treasured in life,” Leon told Star Telegram. “A lot of scratches and a lot of dents, but I’m going to work hard to hopefully fix it or buy a new one. I put a lot of effort in showing my parents that I could take care of something.”
Luckily, Leon won’t be needing to fix it or buy a new one.
Bruce Lowrie Chevrolet in Forth Worth surprised Leon with a 2022 red Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT All Star Edition, along with a $15,000 check.
“We are thankful Riley is safe, commend his driving skills during a frightening situation, and our hearts are with other families in Texas that have been affected by these storms,” the dealership said.
And there’s more good news. Leon ended up getting the job that he had the interview for!
