Service Dog Carefully Watches As His Mom Takes Her First Steps

Ask any parent and they will tell you that one of the most special times in their life was when their children took their first steps. It was a moment of pride and sometimes, of sheer joy and surprise.

It seems as if this isn’t only something that happens with parents, but it can also happen with pets as well. That includes the dog that has been by Cienna Ditri’s side, Piper.

According to ViralHog, Ditri has been dealing with various health problems over the past few years and Piper has been there throughout it all.

She has used a nonambulatory wheelchair for the past two years and before then, she used an ambulatory wheelchair.

Recently, however, she started taking a new type of medication that has enabled her to walk again. It took some time for her to learn, but in the end, she was able to stand up on her feet.

As you watch the video below, you can see one of the most amazing moments between best friends. Cienna is able to stand up on her feet and walk for the first time in years.

Perhaps the most amazing part of the video is the fact that Piper is standing there to watch her do it. You can see how excited he is to watch his human mother stand up and take a few steps. His reaction is pure joy.

We don’t often have the opportunity to see moments like this in life. Fortunately, they were able to capture this moment on video, and not only do they have a memory for the rest of their lives, but they also had something to share with millions of others online:

Piper is more than just a companion, he is a medical alert and mobility service dog. Even though he is excited to see her walk again, he is very cautious when he jumps and he stays out of the way so that she doesn’t trip.

Piper and Cienna were later able to take a walk together and they did so through a sunflower field. It was another beautiful moment that they shared.

She said on Instagram: “Piper has never really walked alongside forearm crutches before, so I’m very proud of how he always adapts to my ever-changing dynamic disability.”

Cienna loves sharing information as well as videos about her interactions with Piper on Instagram. When she first was dealing with health problems, she didn’t have a service dog but after it was recommended she get one, she decided it was a good choice.

Even before she had Piper, she had a pet dog that saved her life when she lost consciousness and fell in the shower. That dog tried to keep her face out of the water as it continued to rise and saved her life.

That is when she knew that she needed a service dog and since then, Piper has been a blessing for her.
