Emaciated Dog Abandoned In Bushes Along Popular Boston Greenway Rescued By Good Samaritan

A good Samaritan came upon an emaciated dog huddled in the bushes near a popular bike trail in Boston and stopped to help. The little dog was malnourished and missing most of his fur. He was covered in scabs and clearly lived in deplorable conditions.

The sick dog was dumped in the woods by his heartless owner and left to die. The kindhearted person who found him decided to name the Chihuahua “Bailey” and wrapped him in a towel before bringing him to Malden Police Department.

He was skin and bones and weighed only 2.7 pounds. An animal hospital in Charlestown initially treated Bailey before he was transferred to Animal Rescue League of Boston.

The animal shelter is working with Malden police to find the person responsible for this heinous act. In the meantime, they are making sure Bailey receives daily medicated baths to help his skin infections, medications to treat internal parasites, and several meals to help him gain weight.

It will be a long road to recovery and while staff appreciated everyone’s interest in the little guy, they ask that people not call to inquire about adopting him. They will post when he is available and until then people can keep updated on his progress on Instagram.

The shelter posted, “Bailey is not currently available for adoption. There is no timeline for when this may happen, as he will take some time to get healthy and be ready for a new home. Please refrain from calling to inquire about him as these calls overwhelm our phone lines.”

Dogs ask for so little yet give so much. Bailey deserves justice.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Malden Police Department at (781) 397-7171. “🚨 SHARE 🚨 We need your help,” tweeted the department.

Another way you can help is by donating to the shelter to help care for Bailey.
