I’m a senior in college and live in an apartment by myself. I’ve always wanted to adopt a pet, and I figured this was the perfect time to do so. Here’s the thing: If I was going to adopt a kitten, I wanted one that really, really needed love and care. Then it happened!

One day, I was browsing the Fayetteville Animal Shelter’s website and came across a little kitten named Nero. The poor little baby was found caught in a trap, starved, losing a ton of hair, and basically being eaten by fleas. I trust my intuition for everything, and when I saw this little kitten, something inside of me just told me he was the one.

I immediately contacted the shelter and found out he would need to be fostered for a little while longer with a family that works at the shelter. When I went to talk to them about adopting him, they told me they were shocked that I even found the little guy. Apparently, he was taken off the website almost right after he was put up because they decided he needed to be sheltered longer because he was still very sick.

When I finally got to pick up my little one, I was speechless. He was so tiny, shy, and looked like he had been through a lot. To me, he was the most beautiful kitten I have ever seen! They told me not to get upset if he seemed stand-offish at first because he was so young and had been through so much. The second I let him out, he ran behind the washing machine and I knew he just needed some time.

By the end of the day, he became so loving and cuddly, and I couldn’t be happier. I fall more and more in love with Jet (new name) every day and can easily say adopting this little kitten changed my life. He brings so much joy to my life and I couldn’t ask for a better cat. I could not feel luckier to have gone online that day!
