Cats are amazingly resilient. In spite of terrible experiences, they can still trust people and be loving companions.

When a local animal control agency arrived at a Central Valley home, they found many horrors. The local agency turned to us for help with the cats that were in dire conditions due to living in this hoarding situation. We receive thousands of cats and kittens each year. However, some have conditions that break your heart so badly, it is crucial to fight for their chance to be well.

Both Magoo and Herbie (among others) had such severely infected, but untreated eyes, that they lost some or all of their sight. They had a very long road to recovery, but they rallied with all of the medical care, foster care, and team care.

Sweet Mr. Magoo is a loving, one-year-old, people-oriented fellow who wants to be petted and to be your constant companion. Even though he doesn’t have eyes, he finds his way around well, is quite adaptive and resilient, and isn’t bothered by much (not even the vacuum!). Magoo isn’t particularly meowy, but he has a huge purr. He finds toys and enjoys them thoroughly. He loves to perch on the cat tree! He is completely bonded with his brother, Herbie, and they need to be adopted together.

Herbie the Love Bug, a two-year-old, has limited vision due to eye scarring from an untreated infection in his younger days, but it hardly slows him down. He is quite playful and can be vocal when he can’t find Magoo. He’s been fully checked out, and he had a dental, so his teeth are nice and clean.

Magoo and Herbie sleep together, groom each other, and clearly love each other! They both get along with the well-behaved dogs in their foster home.

They are now up for adoption, and we are looking for a caring home where they can thrive in the good life! These two love the snuggle soft blankets from the Shelter Challenge and the scent of the tasty treats really gets them excited for treat time! It is great to have fun things for their senses that they rely more heavily on now that their sight is affected.
