South Carolina Shelter Dogs Have Space to Run & Play Thanks to Rescue Rebuild and Volunteers

Shelter dogs spend a lot of time in a kennel waiting for someone to adopt them. Staff and volunteers do their best to give them daily walks, but dogs need a space to run and play.

Greater Good Charities’ Rescue Rebuild travels around the country renovating animal shelters to create inviting spaces for both shelter pets and adopters. Their most recent project took them to Lucky Dog Animal Rescue – Team South Carolina to build outdoor play yards for shelter dogs.

The team of experts and a group of volunteers from the Animal Lifeline Club at Delaware Valley University went to work on installing fencing and creating a large space for dogs to run and play. The hardworking students spent their spring break learning new skills and helping homeless dogs.

They were rewarded with praise and thanks from staff and Rescue Rebuild team. The best reward was watching the dogs race around the new enclosures and getting kisses from all the happy dogs.

“Thank you so much, ALC volunteers, for giving your time, effort and smiles to improve the welfare of shelter pets and increase Lucky Dog’s lifesaving capabilities with Rescue Rebuild,” wrote the team.

The rescue is thrilled to have an outdoor space for the dogs where they can enjoy the sun, roll in the grass, and do zoomies. The dogs send their thanks as well. The rescue shared, “WHAT A TRANSFORMATION!! If these dogs could talk, we’re sure they’d say ‘thank you Rescue Rebuild!'”

These projects are possible thanks to your generous donations and the help of volunteers. Rescue Rebuild has been transforming shelters and the lives of animals since 2007. This includes wildlife centers, domestic violence shelters, and veteran housing. Rescue Rebuild is proud to share that along with thousands of volunteers they have provided over 272,000 nights of safety for families in crisis and helped over 837,000 pets in need.
