Rescue Dog Amara Has Made Huge Strides Adjusting but She Still Yearns for a Home of Her Own

Say hello to the cutest girl ever, Amara! Shelter staff at PACC have this to say about her:

“Amara is a sweet young girl who is still practically just a puppy at around two years old. She came to PACC from a home where she was predominantly an outdoor dog, so she’s looking for a family who will welcome her into their home and give her a cozy indoor spot near her people. When Amara first came to the shelter, she was very timid and overwhelmed. She’s made leaps and bounds since then. Here’s what one volunteer had to say about her:

“Amara has come such an incredibly long way since first arriving at PACC. I remember her being so scared, huddled in a corner of her kennel, and having to carry her out to a play yard for some fresh air. Those days are long gone and when you stop by Amara’s kennel these days, she’s right up front, excited, and ready to head out for a walk or some playtime. Amara is bouncy and energetic — a goofy girl who loves toys and has done well with several different kennel mates. It’s been so fun to watch her blossom, and I would love to see her thrive in a forever home!”

“Amara spent a few months in foster and we learned that she is housebroken (mostly – no one is perfect!), crate trained, and very smart. She knows the commands sit, go to bed, outside, and stay. She also loves bananas, so make sure to stock up on those Chiquitas!”

“Amara is back in the shelter after her break and really deserves to find a loving forever home. She can be a bit timid at times, but is a sweet, gentle puppy with a huge amount of love to give to a family! Amara has shared her kennel space with several furry friends during her time in the shelter and has done well with them all. During her last behavioral evaluation with other PACC pups, Amara was social and playful with the other dogs. We think everyone should get to meet a new roomie before heading home, so Amara would like to meet any resident dogs to make sure it’s a good match. She’d also prefer a home without young kiddos (hey, they’re not for everyone.) Amara has a lifetime of love to share with the right family! Don’t miss out on this sweetheart!”

Rescue Pets Rock!

A spayed black and white bull terrier, she’s relatively petite at roughly 46 pounds. The shelter staff at Pima Animal Care Center in Tucson, where she’s been living since February 2022, believe she’s about 2 years old. No animal should ever have to spend a year or more in a rescue or shelter, no matter how cushy they are.

If you or someone you know might be interested in adopting Amara, you can email pacc.adopt@pima.gov with additional questions. She’s in Kennel D076, and her ID# is A769679. You can see her in action in the videos below.
