Woman Surprises Family With Photoshoot Of Late Grandma Who Couldn’t Make Her Wedding

Weddings are wonderful celebrations when families come together. We all want our loved ones to be there for our big day, but sadly, life doesn’t always allow for that.

While Tara Foley was planning her wedding, there was sadness in her heart as she knew that there was probably going to be one person missing from the festivities: her grandmother.

Tara’s grandmother was almost 103 years old and living in Florida on hospice. Her nurses didn’t want her making such a long trip to Texas to see her granddaughter’s wedding, as her heart was failing. Tara knew that she wasn’t going to make it. But, not wanting her grandma to miss the big day, she decided to plan a little surprise for her beloved grandma.

Here is her Facebook post:

As Foley wrote in her post, “I knew in my heart she was trying to hang on to get there somehow. I decided to fly to her with my wedding dress, it was unaltered and didn’t fit yet but none of that mattered.”

Tara didn’t even tell her family what her plans were the weekend that she flew to Florida to visit her grandmother. Instead, she got dressed in her wedding gown, had her hair and makeup done, and even hired a professional photographer to capture the special moments between her and her grandmother.

Tara said, “When I said goodbye to her that night, I think we both knew it would be the last time we would see each other. She grabbed my cheeks with her hands, looked me straight in the eye and said ‘I love you very much.’ I am so blessed to have this be my last memory with her. She was beyond an amazing woman!”

Sadly, her grandmother went on to pass away just 27 days following the photo shoot. Of course, Tara found a way to incorporate the photos into her ceremony. And because she didn’t tell her family what she was up to, when they saw them at the wedding, there were a lot of emotions.

Tara added, “Words cannot explain how much these moments mean to me and I will cherish these memories for the rest of my life. Her smile and her laugh are forever etched in my mind and the love between us will live in my heart. This was one of the greatest days of my life.”
