Former Dogfighting Pitbull Finds Healing With Rescuers

It’s hard to believe that dogfighting still goes on, but there are still some large operations that take part in this barbaric practice.

This includes a now-busted dog fighting ring in South Carolina, where 274 dogs were rescued from just such an operation.

Among the dogs that were rescued from the dogfighting ring was a pit bull named Olivia. After being rescued, she was taken in by the Humane Society of the United States. The rescuers knew that she had been through more than any dog should ever go through.

When posting to YouTube, the Humane Society said that it was obvious she had been in at least two fights before they got there.

They went on to say: “The trauma she experienced, both physically and emotionally, is beyond imagination. Yet, despite that, she is coming out of her shell and learning to trust humans again.”

Although she was in bad shape when they got her, she started healing right away. It wasn’t only the physical scars that began to disappear, however, she also started healing from the emotional scars of being a fighting dog.

Olivia was shy and it took a bit for her to begin to come out of her shell. After some TLC from her rescuers, she began to accept that love and it seems as if she is ready to accept even more.

They say her progress is slow and steady but they are confident that Olivia has a bright future in front of her.
