A French Bulldog Finally Wins “Best In Show” At The National Dog Show

If you love dogs, you’ve probably seen America’s National Dog Show on more than one occasion. This show is widely televised, and it’s a great way to see the different breeds and what the best of the best has to offer.

The event takes place on an annual basis and judges look at those different breeds to give the ultimate prize to one of the best dogs. Of course, we all realize that every dog is a good dog, but this is an event that takes place for another reason.

Labrador retrievers have historically been the biggest winner at the National Dog Show, but there’s a new kid on the block. It’s the French bulldog, and a pooch named Winston managed to win the National Dog Show and steal everyone’s heart in the process.

It’s hard not to love the French bulldog when you see them in person. It could be the way that they walk or perhaps just the look that they have on their face.

We aren’t sure why one has never won the National Dog Show before, but Winston had this one in the bag.

According to NPR, the Frenchy that won the National Dog Show was not competing under the name of Winston. He was actually known as the “GCHP Fox Canyon’s I Won The War at Goldshield,” but perhaps that was too much of a mouthful for the announcers.

Prior to the time that he won the 2022 National Dog Show, Winston had already won 77 Best in Show competitions. That being said, there were 1500 contestants from 200 breeds that he had to get in front of in order to walk away with this title.

When his name was read at the end of the tournament, his owner stood by proudly. According to People Magazine, the judge, Vicki Seiler-Cushman, said: “He is a show dog with personality and beauty and a perfect fit for the breed.”

Now that he has 78 Best of Shows under his belt, it really is a tribute to his breed. Even Purina, which sponsors the event, had some nice things to say about Winston.

They tweeted: “What a pawsitively handsome boy! Congratulations to Winston and all the amazing dogs in this year’s #NationalDogShow.”

We agree.
