Home Security Camera Catches Rare Footage Of Moose His Shedding Antlers

With the increasing number of doorbell cameras in use, it’s only natural that people are witnessing things they would’ve never seen before.

A family living in Big Lake, Alaska happened to capture a once-in-a-lifetime video of a moose thanks to their Ring security camera.

Tyra Bogert (@tyrabogert) posted the videos on both TikTok and Facebook for the world to see, and it wasn’t long before the videos went viral.

In the clips, you can see the family’s yard that’s situated outside Anchorage. Suddenly, a large moose moseys through the yard and drops his antlers as he walks by!

In an interview with TODAY, Tyra explained that she got a notice on her phone about movement on the Ring camera. Her husband asked who was out there, but she didn’t want to spoil it for him. She said, “I’m like, ‘Dude, you’ve got to watch it for yourself! You’ll be so surprised. I don’t want to ruin it.”

“I wanna see the antlers lol,” someone commented and Tyra was happy to oblige her request.

In a follow-up video, they held the massive antlers up to the camera for the world to see.

While the antlers look fairly small in the original clip, when you get a better look you can really see how large they are!

According to the Yukon Wildlife Preserve, moose shed their antlers on an annual basis after mating season. Because antlers aren’t attacked to the animal’s skull, they easily come off when the time is right.
