Woman Shares Moment The Mauna Loa Volcano Erupts

The recent volcano eruption in Hawaii has gained media attention from around the world, but one video, in particular, has left people with chills.

According to the National Park Service, Mauna Loa is the largest active volcano in the world and it’s located right on the big island of Hawaii.

Since 1843, the volcano has erupted just 34 times, averaging about once every five years. However, the volcano seemed to stall after 1984 when it didn’t erupt for nearly 40 years!

On November 27, 2022, residents near Mauna Loa got a surprise when they were woken in the night to an alert of the volcano’s eruption.

One of those residents, Sam Mase, shared the moment the volcano erupted on TikTok and it’s chilling to witness.

In the video, she explains:

“Just in bed and we got a notification that the volcano Moana Loa erupted, and we looked outside. Check out the view from our driveway.”

Sam proceeds to point out her cars and home before panning the camera up to a glowing orange sky.

Before the night of the 27th, the sky was black and brightened only by the lights of city commotion or stars. But now, the entire sky is on fire with the glow of Mauna Loa’s eruption.

It’s hauntingly beautiful. Check out the video below to see for yourself:
