Young, Malnourished Street Kitty that Got a Chance at Indoor Life is Sold on the Idea Now
Meet 9-month-old Tamarind, a special shy boy who is learning indoor life after living most of his existence on the streets. Malnourished and sick, his rescuers at Southern Arizona Cat Rescue in Tucson thought he was a kitten when he arrived at just 2 pounds! Upon further examination, however, it was discovered that he had all of his adult teeth in, putting the kibosh on that theory.
Tamarind is healthy now, per his vet, but this petite boy still has a sensitive tummy and can be a bit of a shy eater. With time and patience, he will accept being petted. He prefers to be approached slowly and at his level, and he does seem to enjoy getting cheek pets in particular! He still does not like being picked up at this point, but he has learned toys are fun to play with by himself or with kitty friends, and cat trees are fun to lounge on, too.
For Tamarind’s best interest, he is required to go to a home with a social and playful cat(s) or kitten(s) to help him learn about all of the fun things indoor life has to offer. His foster mom decided to babysit two 9-week-old fellow foster kittens to help him come out of his shell, and he has been blossoming with his new friends ever since!
Tamarind likes to play and follow his friends around, and he likes having his safe space in the bathroom to return to as needed. He would do best in a quiet home with a forever family who understands he is not a cat who will approach you for pets or sit on your lap at this stage of his life — and he may never. In order for him to be most comfortable, it’s recommended he be in a home with no small children for him to have to hide from.
Tamarind is neutered, current on vaccines, dewormed, microchipped, and tested negative for FIV/FeLV. He is also house-trained and has no special needs.
