Los Angeles County Grants Little Girl Permission To Own A Unicorn

There’s something so alluring to children about unicorns. Perhaps it’s their magical, mystical air or the often-sparkly ways they’re portrayed in the media. Whatever it is, there’s no denying that millions of kids are enamored with the mythical creatures.

One little girl in Los Angeles County was so in love with unicorns, in fact, that she insisted on having one as a pet – if she could find one.

To show just how serious she was about becoming a unicorn pet owner, she handwrote a letter to county officials asking for their permission in owning a unicorn in her backyard. The letter read:

“Dear LA County,

I would like your approval if I can have a unicorn in my backyard if I can find one. Please send me a letter in response.
–
Madeline.”

The County of Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control shared about the sweet letter on Facebook, commending Madeline for her responsible efforts.

They wrote:

“It is always rewarding to hear from young people who thoughtfully consider the requirements of providing a loving home to animals. We commend Madeline’s sense of responsible pet ownership to seek permission in advance to keep a unicorn in Los Angeles County.”

In response to her letter, they sent Madeline “a preapproved unicorn license.”

They added, “in the meantime, because they are indeed very rare to find, we will be providing her the unicorn pictured below as she continues her search.”

It’s nice to know if Madeline ever does find her unicorn that she’s all ready to go with owning it! Ownign a rare, never-before-seen animal seems like something that’d be a paperwork nightmare in most cases, but the Los Angeles County was more than happy to honor her request.

Hopefully she enjoys the stuffed animal while her search continues.
