Adorable Lion Cub Does His Best To Wake Dad Up From A Nap

Anyone with kids knows just how pesky they can be when it’s nap time, and I don’t mean nap time for the kids but for the adults!

Whenever a mom or dad tries to get a quick bout of shut-eye during the day, a child is right there to wake them up. And in case you’re wondering, it’s something animal parents experience as well.

In one adorable viral video, you can see one tiny cub’s attempt to wake his dad up from a nap.

The cub’s attempts are quite valiant, as he hops on his dad’s back and stomps around a few times. When that doesn’t work, the cub hops down and moves to his dad’s face. He gives it a little lick, a small paw, and eventually gives up all together. As soon as the cub walks away, dad rolls over, seemingly exasperated.

The video was shared on TikTok by the account @lionpower.1.

According to an article published in Scientific American, female lions generally do the cub-rearing, while male lions protect the pride. They explain, “Male lions do not take an active role in raising their children. In fact, they are pretty lazy.”

It seems that’s pretty accurate, based on the video! After all, the dad lion seems uninterested in doing anything but napping.
