Kansas Man Offers Free Lawn Care To Those In Need

Whether it’s giving your time, resources, or expertise to help someone in need, being generous can make a significant impact on someone’s life.

Generosity also plays a key role in building strong relationships and fostering a sense of community. While generosity doesn’t always come easily to some people, others seem to recognize the benefits it can provide to those receiving and the sense of fulfillment that comes from giving.

One person who knows this all too well is a 24-year-old Kansas-native named Spencer.

Spencer owns SB Mowing in Wichita, KS. He’s been in lawn care for around 12 years now, having started as a child.

While he primarily offers lawn care as a paid service and has made a career in it, he recently started offering some services on a volunteer basis to help those in his community who might not be able to afford a lawn care service.

According to Fox News, Spencer was inspired to offer free yard care after seeing videos of fellow lawn professionals offering the same.

He decided to give it a go and began looking for yards that looked like the homeowner could use a hand. From there, he’d knock on the doors and ask if they’d like free lawn care, which includes mowing, edging, and using a blower to clear sidewalks and walkways.

Spencer filmed the yards he did for free and posted videos of it on YouTube where he received a really positive response.

Within 3 years, he’d built up a channel with more than one million subscribers!

In his videos, Spencer shares about the people he meets while volunteering his services and those he helps. In one video, in particular, he knocks on the door of Mark Edens, a veteran who served 9 years in the army.

People were moved by Edens’ story so Spencer started a GoFundMe to help the man get on his feet. The fundraiser raised over $9,000 and Spencer threw in a few hundred to bring the total up to $10,000.

In a follow-up video, Spencer delivered the $10,000 to the veteran and the man couldn’t believe what he was seeing. He said he plans to use the money to help pay his house bills and get some food on the table.

Beyond returning to the man with the money, Spencer also stuck around to help clean up his backyard as well!
