Help Lacey Live Cancer-Free

Update: Lacey is cancer-free! She has recovered from her surgery and is ready to find her forever home. She loves to cuddle and go for short walks so the shelter thinks she would be a great match for a senior citizen. She was given a second chance at life thanks to your donations.

Cherished Tails Senior Sanctuary rescues dogs from kill shelters in Arizona and surrounding states to give them the second chance they deserve. They recently took in Lacey who was at a local animal control with a large ulcerated mammary mass on her belly.

The 5-year-old Chihuahua mix was at risk of euthanasia due to the mass, but the sanctuary saved her.

However, she needed immediate surgery. She was rushed to an urgent care vet, who is also an oncologist, to remove the large mass.

The sanctuary then reached out to Greater Good Charities’ Emergency Animal Medical to help cover the cost of the lifesaving surgery. The program provides grants to cover emergency care for homeless pets, thanks to your support.

Shelters nationwide take in stray and unwanted dogs and cats daily and many arrive in need of medical care. The Emergency Animal Medical program lends a helping hand by allowing the shelters to focus on the care of the pets and not the expensive medical bills.

The vet removed the large mass that was nearly as long as Lacey’s belly, and she is now cancer-free!

Lacey is on the road to recovery and currently waiting for her sutures to be removed. She is in a loving foster home as she regains her strength and will soon be looking for a forever home.
