Handsome Kitty Onyx Needs a Patient Home with Understanding Humans to Love Him

According to the Southern Arizona Cat Rescue, 4-year-old Onyx is what you’d call a misunderstood kitty cat. He’s not your social, outgoing boy or one who loves to be cuddled and played with right away. He is more of a loner and just spends his days to himself unless he has his person to hang with. You can often find him hanging out on his cat tree and watching through the windows or peering at cat TV with plenty of critters on the screen.

Food motivated, he loves his treats and a set or routine eating schedule with his wet food, which will ultimately help build his trust with anyone new. Patience is key to Onyx as well as time to adapt.

He’s truly smart and does want to be loved once you earn his trust that you aren’t going to hurt him and just want to love him instead. He is special with his one-of-a-kind personality that really does shine when the right person finds him and works with him day-by-day. Onyx will then play (even fetch) and cuddle often. He’s truly a sweet boy once you get to know him!

The ideal home for Onyx will be one that is on the quiet side. You know the type. Somewhere without frequent loud noises, as they scare him, and someone to provide comfort due to that and allow space when needed. He has had kitty friends and doesn’t mind hanging out with them. On the other hand, he could also probably do just fine as an only cat.

As to canines and kids, he could live with very mellow and laid-back dogs who would give him his space, but no small children would be best. If older respectful kids are applicable, they would need to understand his boundaries prior to meeting him.

Onyx is neutered, current on vaccines, dewormed, microchipped, and tested negative for FIV/FeLV. He’s also house-trained and has no special needs. If seeing and reading about this sweet boy has stolen your heart, please fill out an adoption application on the SACatRescue website to get started now!

If you have any further questions or concerns regarding the adoption of sweet, shy Onyx, you can contact the Southern Arizona Cat Rescue at (520) 200-1643 or by emailing adoption@sacatrescue.org.
