Handsome Darth’s No Dark Sith, Just a Good Boy Looking for a Furever Home
Greetings! My name is Darth, which means “dark.” But if you’re a Star Wars fan, you already know that. While I most certainly appear dark, my light spirit and breezy attitude are anything but. Besides being a stunner of a black Lab with a shiny, raven-colored coat, I weigh approximately 80 pounds. My people tell me that I am 6 years old, but that doesn’t mean much to me ’cause I still feel like a puppy full of pep, vim, and vigor.
I bet you’d like to know how I am with kids. I am good with older children, meaning pre-teens and above. As to cats, I have never seen one at close range. However, I am very alert to quick movements such as birds and lizards on walks. Because of this, I may not be best in a house with a cat, but you never know. Lots of doggos chase lizards, but they don’t bother cats.
As far as exercise, I do love to go on walks and hikes and enjoy meeting new people while I’m out. I’m housebroken, non-destructive, and enjoy relaxing in the house. I’ve never ever lived with small dogs, but I do fine when meeting them on my walks.
Before coming to Desert Labrador Retriever Rescue, I didn’t have much structure or training. I have recently completed my version of “canine charm school,” though, and have learned to be the best boy ever! My trainer has worked on my leash manners, socialization, and impulse control and says that I am such a delight. She is the best and will also help me transition into a new home.
Just a heads up, but I can be assertive and pushy and will need a strong dog-savvy leader. Someone who will be able to continue with my training and provide me with the consistent leadership I need.
