Rescue Dog Steps Up To Foster Orphaned Kittens And Puppies
Over the weekend, I was taking a stroll by the coast where I live when I saw a man walking a pony on the sand. At least, from far away it looked like a pony because the animal was quite large and a dusty grey color.
But when I got closer I realized it was a dog. Turns out, the man had a Great Dane. And as their name suggests, these dogs are HUGE. But despite their size, they’re such gentle souls.

One Great Dane ended up becoming a loving member of a family after her foster parents saw just how sweet she was with some orphaned puppies and kittens.
The Great Dane, Shelby, was only 8 months old when her family surrendered her to a California shelter. The Great Dane then needed someone to foster her, so Shirley Zindler, from the Dogwood Animal Rescue Project, ended up taking her home to foster her.

However, once she was at her foster’s residence, Shelby ended up meeting a batch of puppies that Shirley was also fostering. Shirley was so impressed with Shelby’s gentleness towards the little pups, that she ended up keeping her permanently!
Now, Shelby has a brand new career as a foster mom herself, helping Shirley with all the little animals that she brings home with her.

Shelby spends her days with puppies – as well as kittens – helping them learn the ropes and get adjusted to life.
