Young Dog Who Overcame Shyness Hurdle Now at Risk for Euthanasia
This is no shrinking Violet! Once upon a time, this sweet girl was timid and shy, so she spent time in PACC’s decompression program for shy and fearful dogs. With the help of a few dedicated volunteers, she’s worked hard to gain confidence and build trust with people, and now she’s ready to continue that journey in the right home!
Violet needs a bit of time to feel comfortable with new people, but once she does, her silly, playful, goofy, and affectionate personality comes right out!! Violet is adored by many volunteers. Here’s what a few of them had to say about her:
Adoptable Shelter Dogs
“Violet is an impressive jumper and bounces vertically like a pogo stick! She’s still working on her leash walking manners, but she’s very smart, and I think she will learn quickly that pulling less on the leash is more enjoyable for everyone! She also has a lot of energy and would do really well in an active home. She sits perfectly for treats and takes them nicely from your hand. Such a sweet girl!”
“I really love Violet! When I first met her, she was still a bit shy but warmed up quickly. These days, she is so happy to see a friendly face and spend some time outside of her kennel. She loves to romp around a play yard and dive-bomb you with quick bursts of affection before doing another lap. She’s still so young and definitely has a lot of puppy in her, which is so fun to see. In the right home where she gets a bit of time to feel comfortable with her new family, I think Violet will absolutely blossom (pun intended)!”
“Violet is a nice girl who I started walking or taking to a yard after she graduated from the decompression program. Her notes say to go slow since she can be wary of new people, but I never saw any wariness from her at all. She is easy to leash up and loves to run around the play yard with her roomie. She’s friendly and accepts affection but is a fairly independent lady. I think with a family of her own, she’ll really shine.”
Saving Pets From Euthanasia
Violet has the cutest wrinkles and the most velvety fur and will make an excellent cuddle buddy! She’s been at the shelter for long enough and is ready to move on up to being a beloved companion. Violet has had a variety of roommates while in the shelter and was playful, social, and easygoing when meeting other dogs in playgroup. Having a confident dog to show her the ropes in a future home would be great for this gal! If you can offer a sensitive girl a safe, secure, and loving home, please ask to meet Violet today!
Note: Pima Animal Care Center in Tucson is at critical capacity, meaning that there are more dogs in the shelter than there’s room. This has resulted in the creation of a euthanasia list, which identifies dogs who may be at risk of euthanasia in the near future. This pet and others are on that list. Violet is a spayed shar pei mix that weighs approximately 49 pounds.
