Stray Dog With Two Severely Injured Legs Needs Emergency Surgery To Walk Again Without Pain

Every day injured animals arrive at animal shelters in need of emergency medical care, like Benji.

A good Samaritan found a shaggy dog struggling to walk and rushed him to Hub City Humane Society in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

The estimated 5-year-old dog arrived with a badly broken front right leg and the vet discovered he also has an old injury to his hind right leg.

Every step he takes is painful.

The sweet fella needs to have costly orthopedic surgeries to repair his legs and give him the best chance at making a full recovery. The surgery on his front leg will involve putting a pin and plate in to stabilize the leg and a recovery time of 2-3 months.

The shelter reached out to Greater Good Charities’ Emergency Animal Medical fund for help with the medical bills. The fund was created to help dogs like Benji get the second chance they deserve by providing grants to animal shelters for medical expenses.

Pets receiving critical care facilitated by an Emergency Animal Medical grant may not be eligible for adoption until they have completed their course of treatment.
