Senior Dog Risks His Life To Save Canine Brother From Coyotes

A heroic senior dog is being credited with saving his bigger canine brother’s life after a coyote snuck into their Southern California home and attacked.

Erin K. Macaluso shared about the incident on Facebook, explaining that her 12-pound dog Harley slipped out the doggie door one night and that’s when the coyote pounced.

Harley was screaming and yelping in pain, and that’s when 11-year-old Vinny rushed out to chase the coyotes away!

Erin said, “Our little HERO Vinny is 10 lbs, 11 yrs old, and only has 3 teeth! But he’s always been scrappy.”

Vinny was rescued from Emerald City Pet Rescue in Seattle, Washington back in 2014. Since then, he’s been living a peaceful, uneventful life with his family. Little did anyone know that he’d one day be a hero.

Erin explained in the Facebook post, “You can see in the video, there were 2 coyotes; only one came into my yard. The other sat on the other side of the fence, waiting…We didn’t realize exactly what had happened or what had attacked our dog until after we had made it to the emergency vet and sat down to look at our camera footage.”

“My dog Vinny is a hero in a fur suit. Harley is a 12 lb Morkie and Vinny is 10 lbs, so the smaller dog ran the coyote off! Harley was severely injured, but thankfully he will make a full recovery,” she added.

We’re so glad that Harley will make a recovery! You can see Vinny’s heroic actions below:
