Chip Gaines Reveals The Selfless Reason He Grew His Hair Out And Shaved His Head

If you’re a fan of the hit TV show “Fixer Upper” then you probably know the show’s star, Chip Gaines. Over the past few years, he went from having short hair to long hair, but he didn’t grow his hair out to make a fashion statement.

Fans may have noticed Chip’s hair growing out from his Instagram posts, or perhaps from keeping up with Fixer Upper.

After his hair was grown out to around his shoulders, Chip revealed the real reason he grew it out and it wasn’t for fun. Instead, he was growing his hair out for a good cause!

After growing his hair out, Chip ended up shaving his head to raise money for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. In an Instagram post, Chip shared about his haircut, announcing that they were accepting donations in honor of it. As for his hair, it went to the non-profit Children With Hair Loss.

In the end, Chip’s haircut raised more than $425,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital! He ended up contributing some half a million dollars to the organization, evening the number out to $500,000.

Chip shared on Instagram, “WOW.. over $425k raised for @stjude!! We are completely blown away by how y’all came together to chip in for this amazing organization. Jo and I are rounding that number up to an even $500k & we’re also sending $50k to the folks over at @cwhl_org to support the work they’re doing. Thank you all for being a part of this with us—what a powerful week that will no doubt have a lasting impact on countless lives.”

Since shaving his head, Chip’s hair has already grown out quite a bit, but he continues to raise money and awareness for cancer research.

He shared about running the Silo District Marathon to support cancer research, something he did before with his late friend and rare cancer patient Gabriele Anderson Grunewald.

Given how cancer affected his friend, it’s clear that it’s a topic that’s close to his heart. It’s nice to see Chip raising awareness and money for the cause!
