Cat Abandoned In Taped-Up Box Finds A Family To Love

They say cats have nine lives and that seems to be true for a battered tabby cat named Phoenix.

The feline was left on a hill in a taped-up box that was so tightly wrapped there was no chance the cat could ever escape on her own. Beyond that, she was also very sick and needed medical attention.

It was a cruel way to leave an animal and if her health didn’t kill her, being stuck in a tiny cardboard box without food or water certainly would.

But fate had other plans and a woman named Liliana happened to hear the feline’s desperate cries.

Speaking with The Dodo, Liliana explained that she was walking down the street with her partner, Martha, when she heard “meows” coming from nearby.

They found a box on a hill that was “severely taped up” and they couldn’t believe what they were seeing. They knew there was a cat in the box but they wondered, “Who could do this?”

After cutting the tape away, they were able to open the box, and out popped a battered-up look feline. The cat looked so rough that Liliana thought she was blind at first.

“It was just unbelievable how her face looked,” Liliana told The Dodo.

Liliana and Martha immediately decided to welcome the cat into the family. They named her Phoenix and quickly got her into the veterinarian for care.

Phoenix was weak and her skin was dry and full of sores. Thankfully, her medication worked and it wasn’t long before she started to heal.

Phoenix slowly came out of her shell and became more curious and playful. She was rescued back in August 2021, and now since then, she’s transformed into a whole new cat!

Her skin has improved, she’s learned to use the litter box, and she even made fast friends with the family dogs.

Olive the dog loves Phoenix and wants to be BFFs with the rescue cat, but Phoenix is a little more hesitant. She tolerates Olive and they get along just fine, but Olive’s “obsession” with Phoenix can be a bit much at times.

It’s sweet to see how well Phoenix was accepted into the family and how well she adjusted to her knew life. She’s so loved and thriving in her new home!
