Boy With Autism Has His Pepper Plant Stolen So Cops Step Up To Help

You never quite know what you are going to run into when you are a police officer. Each day is new, with new challenges and new possibilities. Sometimes, you may even end up doing something that you had never expected or could have envisioned.

This recently was seen in an interesting way in North Bend, Oregon.

According to the North Bend Police Department, a four-year-old autistic child had been working with a pepper plant to sprout it and watch it grow. His father, Bailee Pultz, spoke about how he tended to the plant, making sure it got plenty of water and sunlight but unfortunately, something interrupted the process.

When the boy went outside one day, he found out that someone had stolen the plant. Nobody understands why they stole it but they do know that it was heartbreaking for the child.

The autistic child may have been devastated but he also knew that there was hope. He told his parents: “Don’t worry mommy and daddy, the cops will catch him and bring my peppers back.”

Since the police were being looked up to by that young child, they wanted to do what they could to make it a very positive experience for him. A neighbor also got involved by buying a pepper plant.

Now that they had a new pepper plant, they just needed the police to get involved. They contacted the North Bend Police Department and told them what was happening. Officer Chris Rule was on the scene within 10 minutes, doing what he could to make sure that the child had exactly what he expected.

Officer Rule took the new plant to the child, who was amazed that it was able to grow so much in a single day. He didn’t understand that it was a new plant, but he did understand that the police were there to assist him, just as he expected.

They were also able to get some pictures to share and it was an interesting story that has gone viral online for all the right reasons.
