Rescue Dog Born With Defect Always Looks Surprised
When 38-year-old Lieschen O’Connor started looking to rescue a puppy, she never could’ve guessed what a special dog she’d welcome into her life.
O’Connor ended up adopting a pup named Belle from the Lawrence Humane Society in Kansas.
Since then, Belle has become quite a star on social media, racking up close to 200,000 followers on Instagram and TikTok.
The reason? Her unusual “surprised” face that’s featured in pictures and videos on her social media accounts. No matter what Belle’s up to, she looks surprised.
It’s not just her facial expressions that make her look that way though, she was actually born with a defect that causes her permanent “surprised” face.
O’Connor shared in Belle’s Instagram highlights that the pup’s muscles on her head were likely stretched back during the birthing process, which left her looking wide-eyed at all times.
While she’s always looked unique, her eyes grew to look more surprised the older she got.
Now, as an adult, Belle has a constant, notable “surprised” look that’s won her many founds around the world.
Thankfully, the condition doesn’t cause Belle much pain, though her eyes do get a little dry from time to time. It’s nothing some eye drops can’t fix though, and O’Connor is quick to administer the drops if Belle’s eyes need some moisture.
