Orphaned Baby Lost In 1980 Found ‘Alive And Well’ 40 Years Later

Authorities have found a missing baby from a 1980s cold case and she was discovered alive and well!

According to a press release from the Texas Attorney General, baby Holly went missing with her parents in 1980, but when her parents were discovered deceased in the woods in 1981, she was nowhere to be found.

Holly’s parents, Tina Gail Linn Clouse and Harold Dean Clouse Jr., had stopped contacting their families in 1980. According to NPR, members of a religious cult reached out to the families to say that the couple had joined their nomadic religious group and would be cutting off contact.

Tina and Harold’s families never heard from them again and spent years wondering if they were alive and well, and thinking about baby Holly and how she was. However, in 2021, authorities used genetic genealogy to determine the identities of two murder victims that had been found in the woods of Texas in 1981. The bodies belonged to Tina and Harold and their families were immediately notified of the discovery.

Once it was discovered that Tina and Harold had been murdered back in 1981, their families began to wonder: What happened to baby Holly?

Investigators began searching for Holly after they learned her parents had been murdered all those years ago, and they found her alive and well in Oklahoma! She even has a family of her own. Holly was notified of the discovery of her parents and she was connected with her extended biological family.

In the press release, Cheryl Clouse, Holly’s aunt, said: “It was so exciting to see Holly. I was so happy to meet her for the first time. It is such a blessing to be reassured that she is alright and has had a good life. The whole family slept well last night.”

Le magazine des actualités & Reportages shared photos of Holly and what she looked like as a baby and now, you can check them out below:

According to NPR, Brent Webster, First Assistant Attorney General of Texas, said that not much is known surrounding the murder of Holly’s parents or her disappearance. What they do know is that two women, alleged members of the nomadic religious group that Holly’s parents joined, brought the baby to a church in Arizona and left her there.

It’s unclear what happened to her after she was abandoned at the church, but it seems she had a good life and a good family, and the people who raised Holly are not suspected of being involved in the murder of her parents.

Authorities are currently looking for the two women who dropped Holly off at the church and they’re asking anyone with information surrounding the murder of Holly’s parents to come forward.

In the press release, authorities wrote: “The investigation into the murders of Holly’s biological parents, Tina and Dean Clouse, is ongoing and, if anyone has information about their deaths, please contact the Texas Attorney General’s Cold Case and Missing Persons Unit at coldcaseunit@oag.texas.gov.”
